I highly recommend reading Mel Robbins’ book “The 5 second rule” if you are in need of some motivation.
She tells you something very simple “it only takes 5 seconds to change your life”.
In her book you can read several testimonials from people from all over the world who have achieved their goals by using the rule. Reading these testimonials make you wonder that if they could do it, why couldn’t you?
Mel’s advice is to find your everyday courage to change your life. You can feel stuck in your current situation but one moment of courage can change your whole life.
The rule helps you to push yourself out of your comfort zone and experience life fully.
It is never too late to start making changes. Mel Robbins was 41 years old when she discovered the 5 second rule. She struggled with getting up in the mornings due to feeling overwhelmed by all her problems. One night she decided that the next morning she will lunch herself out of bed like a rocket in 5-4-3-2-1. It was time to start facing her problems and take action. Are you ready to start making changes?
When you have a good idea to better yourself, you need to do a “5…4…3…2…1…” countdown and start doing it. If you think about it any longer your brain will start to overanalyse your idea and come up with excuses for why you shouldn’t do it. Fear and self-doubt can take your head over very quickly and make you hold yourself back.
“Doing things that scare you actually make you more confident. If you have the courage to take action, your confidence will follow. Every time you push yourself to speak when you’re nervous, act when you’re afraid, or get to the gym when you don’t feel like it, you realize that you can rely on yourself to get anything done.” -Mel Robbins
According to Mel, you shouldn’t keep waiting for the moment when you feel motivated enough to get something done as that moment might never come. You have to push yourself to achieve your goals. If you wait, you are working against your dreams. Stop waiting for the right time and start doing!
“The difference between people who make their dreams come true and those of us who don’t is just one thing: the courage to start and the discipline to keep going”. -Mel Robbins
I have been planning to start writing for ages and her book gave me the push to actually get started.
We are afraid from failing but if we don’t even try, we will never know what we can achieve. Please remember you can achieve anything if you believe in yourself. There is greatness within you.
